Strawberry Marsh

Located adjacent to the Miramichi Bridge, Strawberry Marsh has served this community for generations. Since its original ties to the harvesting of sweet grass by the Mi’kmaq people of the region, Strawberry Marsh has also been home to a baseball field and local dumping station. Strawberry Marsh has now been transformed into an attractive nature park, rich with beautiful plants and wildlife.

While walking the trails at Strawberry Marsh, visitors are presented with interpretive panels depicting the history of this location. Storytelling and cultural tie-ins are abundant in this area along the Miramichi River, as recent archeological evidence has proven that the Mi’kmaq people have been populating the Miramichi region for 3000 years.
